Nobody's watching yet. Use it.

Note 01, 9 October 2026

A small audience is the one time your mistakes cost nothing.

You posted something you were proud of. Eleven likes. Two were bots.

So now you’re thinking about waiting. Until the product’s better. Until there’s an audience worth the effort.

Don’t. This is the best part, and almost nobody notices while they’re in it.

When nobody’s watching, mistakes are free. Post the rough version. Launch on a Tuesday afternoon with no plan. If it flops, eleven people saw it, and two of them were bots.

I spent about ten years on brand work that plenty of people saw, with almost none of it under my name. Putting things out as myself means starting small like everyone else. This newsletter included.

Most of what you ship this way won’t work. That’s the deal. You’re not trying to be right yet. You’re looking for the one thing that is, and you only find it by shipping more than feels sensible.

This week, put out two things you’d normally overthink. Don’t polish either. See which one surprises you.

Nobody’s watching yet. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Worth a look

  • Scissor. An Illustrator-style editor in your browser. It even opens .ai files.

  • Lofi Cities. Pick a pixel city at night, start a focus timer, get to work.
